Pastoral Care Pathway

A Structured Path for Pastoral Care

MindRenew's Pastoral Care Pathway gives leaders a clear, structured approach to supporting people — from first awareness through ongoing follow-up care.

01

Notice

The leader becomes aware that someone in their care may be struggling — through conversation, observation, or a direct support request from within MindRenew.

02

Reflect

The leader takes time to understand the person's situation, reviewing any shared reflections or support requests, and prayerfully considering how to respond.

03

Reframe

Using CBT-informed awareness, the leader helps the person gently examine unhelpful thought patterns and consider more balanced, truth-centered perspectives.

04

Request Support

The person formally requests pastoral care through MindRenew's Pastoral Support Request tool — creating a structured, intentional care connection.

05

Pastoral Response

The leader responds with structured pastoral care — prayer, Scripture-informed guidance, emotional support, and practical next steps within appropriate pastoral boundaries.

06

Referral When Needed

When a person's needs exceed pastoral care — clinical, psychiatric, or crisis needs — the leader guides them toward appropriate professional support with clarity and care.

07

Follow-Up Care

The leader maintains ongoing connection, checking in on progress, celebrating growth, and continuing to walk alongside the person through the journey.

Pastoral Care, Not Therapy

Pastors and ministry leaders using MindRenew are providing pastoral care — not acting as licensed therapists or clinical counselors, unless they hold those qualifications separately. MindRenew helps leaders provide structured pastoral care and know when referral to professional mental health services is appropriate. Clear boundaries protect both the leader and the person being supported.
